Sundarban, the beautiful swampy forest is situated in south- west part of Bangladesh by the side of the Bay of Bengal. It is the largest single mangrove tract of the World. Area of Sundarban in Bangladesh is about 6017 sq. km which is around 60% of the total forest. The name Sundarban was originated from the dominating tree of this forest named Sundri. This forest was confirmed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997.
